Sir Stephen Hough with Jess Dandy and Andrew Hamilton – Evening Recital

Sun 11 Apr 2027
8.00—10.00pm

Artists

Sir Stephen Hough piano
Jess Dandy contralto
Andrew Hamilton baritone

Named by The Economist as one of the world’s Twenty Living Polymaths, Sir Stephen Hough combines an illustrious career as a concert pianist with those of composer and writer. As the newly appointed Artistic Director and Chair of the Jury of the 2027 Leeds International Piano Competition, we are delighted to present this concert in collaboration with one of our principal artistic partners in the city.

Hough has written an extensive and distinctive catalogue of songs, two of which feature in this evening’s programme, performed alongside rising stars contralto Jess Dandy and baritone Andrew Hamilton. He opens with a solo piano set including Schumann’s vibrant Carnaval and his own sophisticated and witty arrangement of Sherman’s music from Mary Poppins, before turning to his own song cycles.

A fascinating encounter with the many sides of one of today’s most remarkable musical polymaths.
