Beth Taylor and Hamish Brown – Lunchtime Recital

Thu 15 Apr 2027
1.00—2.00pm

Artists

Beth Taylor, mezzo-soprano
Hamish Brown, piano

Rising star Beth Taylor, “one of today’s most electrifying young mezzo-sopranos” (The Times), joins pianist and Leeds Song Young Artist Programme alumnus Hamish Brown in a recital that comes to Leeds from its debut at the Edinburgh International Festival. Their Edinburgh performance was praised for turning “the conventional song recital into a gripping piece of drama” (The Arts Desk).

Shaped by the sea, myth, memory and the shifting boundaries between the human and natural worlds, the programme travels through more than a century of music. Here, the sea becomes both landscape and metaphor — alluring, mysterious, turbulent and dangerous — in a captivating journey through song.

This concert will be signed by British Sign Language interpreter Paul Whittaker
