Mujie Yan
Mujie Yan is a Chinese pianist currently pursuing her master's degree in Piano Performance with a scholarship at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), studying with Professor Aaron Shorr and Sinae Lee.

Mujie is versatile both as a solo pianist and harpsichordist, her musical and academic research focuses on the piano and chamber music of Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů.
Born in China, Mujie developed an interest in music at the age of seven. Upon moving to Budapest, Hungary, at age thirteen, she continued her piano studies with doctoral student Javier López Jorge from the Liszt Academy, who inspired her to pursue a professional career in music. At seventeen, she began studying regularly with Professor Balázs Szokolay, while embarking on her journey of harpsichord studies with lecturer Agnes Ratkó at the Liszt Academy.
Mujie has participated in various masterclasses for solo and chamber music with renowned artists such as Gábor Eckhardt, Dmitri Alexeev, Steven Osborne, Boris Berman and Lilya Zilberstein.
Mujie has won numerous prizes in both solo and chamber music competitions. She was a semi-finalist in the inaugural BBC Radio Scotland Young Classical Musician competition in 2024. Mujie’s piano duo – Duo Immersio, were awarded the Peter Lindsay Miller Piano Duo Prize in 2024. Together with tenor Euan McDonald, she was awarded first place in both the Elgar Spedding Lieder Prize (2024) and the Hugh S. Robertson Scots Song Prize (2022) at RCS.
In April 2025, Mujie will be collaborating with Institut Français Edinburgh and St. Cecilia’s Hall in her debut harpsichord recital, where she will present a diverse program showcasing unique colours and imaginations of the harpsichord.
