Kelsey Thomas

Kelsey Thomas is a British soprano studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. She is the current award holder of the Sybil Tutton Opera Award from Help
Musicians UK and is also supported by The Riga Heesom Scholarship Award and the Richard Newitt Fund from the RNCM.

Kelsey made her professional debut, opening the Philharmonic’s 2025–26 lunchtime concert series alongside her duo partner, Edward Lloyd (piano). On the concert stage, Kelsey has performed at numerous UK venues, including Buxton Pavilion Arts Centre, Crosby Hall, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Kelsey has also performed at numerous opera galas including Grimsby Town Hall alongside Henry Waddington and Victoria Simmonds, where she was introduced as an ‘exciting, early career singer’ (Grimsby Concert Society).

As an oratorio and chamber soloist, Kelsey has performed as the soprano soloist in major orchestral works including Villa-Lobos’s ‘Bachianas Brasileiras’, with cellists from the Merseyside Youth Orchestra, and Handel’s ‘Messiah’ with the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Kelsey is set to return as the soprano soloist for the ‘Messiah’ in March 2026 with Oldham Symphony Orchestra and will also appear as guest soprano soloist for Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ at Liverpool Cathedral in May.
Since 2024, Kelsey has been selected as a member of the prestigious RNCM Songsters which are a select ensemble of accomplished singers and collaborative
pianists at the Conservatoire. Through this platform, Kelsey has performed across a range of concert venues, presenting a diverse range of art song repertoire.
Recent operatic highlights include Berenice in Rossini’s ‘L’occasione fa il ladro’ (RNCM Opera Scenes 2026), Sandrina in Mozart’s ‘La Finta Giardinera’ (RNCM
Opera Scenes 2025), Maria Bertram in ‘Mansfield Park’ (RNCM Opera Scenes 2024), and Colombina in Wolf-Ferrari’s ‘Le Donne Curiose’ (RNCM Opera Scenes
2024). Kelsey has also performed as part of the RNCM Opera Chorus in Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ (2022), and Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Snegurochka’ (2023).
Kelsey has participated in masterclasses with Rebecca Evans, Joseph Middleton, Soraya Mafi, Elizabeth Lewellyn, David Owen Norris and Roger Vignoles.
