Katja Maderer

Katja Maderer is a German born soprano currently studying for her master's degree with Prof. Lars Woldt at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Munich.

During the 2024/25 season, Katja will make her debut at the Heidenheim Opera Festival in the roles of Die Aufseherin/Die Vertraute in the opera ‘Elektra’ by R. Strauss.  Last season she played the role of Contessa di Almaviva in W.A. Mozart’s ‘Le nozze di Figaro’ and in Munich’s Prinzregententheater as Osira in Johann Christian Bach’s opera ‘Zanaida’, accompanied by the Munich Radio Orchestra. She also took part in a concert opera performance of E. Schikaneder’s ‘Der Stein der Weisen’ followed by a CD production with the Munich Court Orchestra (released by Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, 2024)

In September 2022, Katja and her Lied partner Amadeus Wiesensee were awarded the special prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary song at the International Competition for Lied Art at the Hugo Wolf Academy in Stuttgart.

Katja is part of the ‘Lied the future’ programme, which is sponsored by the Associació Franz Schubert Barcelona and provides her with concert engagements in Spain. In October 2023, the young soprano was awarded the ‘Trude Eipperle Rieger Prize’. She is also a winner of the Munich Concert Society’s Young Talent Award, a scholarship holder of the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation (Stendal), the Fritz Wunderlich Society (Kusel) and the Passau District Youth Culture Award. The young musician performed as part of Tabea Zimmermann’s chamber music week at Schloss Elmau in January 2023. She has also performed at the Heidelberger Frühling, the Barcelona Obertura Festival, the ION Nuremberg and Europäische Wochen Passau concert series, the Schubertíada Vilabertran and the Festival Internacional de Musica y Danza de Granada. As an acclaimed concert singer, she has already appeared in the soprano solo parts of J.S. Bach’s ‘Matthäupassion’, J. Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem” and J. Haydn’s “Nelsonmesse”.
