Manchester born pianist George Herbert is currently studying for an MA in Ensemble Piano at the Royal Academy of Music with Professors Michael Dussek and James Baillieu, where he is a scholarship recipient.

For his undergraduate George studied German and Music at St John’s College, Cambridge, where he was organ scholar.

George has recently collaborated with Carolyn Sampson, Susan Bullock and Manchester Camerata. He is a participant in the Wigmore Hall’s French Song Exchange, and looks forward to upcoming recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Hallwylska in Stockholm, Salle Cortot in Paris, and Southwark Cathedral.

Georges’ debut album as a collaborative pianist, Rodrigo Ruiz’s ‘Venus and Adonis’ with Grace Davidson, won the Spanish prize ‘Melomano de Oro’ in January 2025.  George has also worked with composer David Roche on a Welsh language heavy metal project, and with author Bernhard Malkmus on the literary-musical project ‘Flight Paths’.

As well as his work as a pianist, George is active as a freelance singer and his work with Tenebrae and Continuum choirs have taken him across Europe and the UK. He is generously supported by the Choir Association of St John’s College, Cambridge.

Outside of music George is a passionate environmentalist and volunteers with the London Wildlife Trust.
