1.00—2.00pm

Artists
Patricia Nolz mezzo-soprano
Joseph Middleton piano
Young mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz is already recognized as one of Austria’s most outstanding vocal talents. A protégé of Florian Boesch, she has swiftly established herself as an artist of exceptional calibre, regularly appearing at the Vienna State Opera in roles such as Cherubino, Zerlina, Annio, and Rosina. She made a notable Edinburgh Festival début as Cherubino with the Komische Oper Berlin and has performed with the Vienna Symphony and Gewandhaus Orchestras.
Last season, the Wiener Konzerthaus named her a “Great Talent,” programming her extensively in both recitals and orchestral concerts. For Leeds Song, Nolz presents a programme steeped in the intensity of German Romanticism, featuring works by Wolf and Zemlinsky, culminating in Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben – his 1840 song cycle that traces the joys and sorrows of a woman’s journey through love and life.
Leeds Song has a proud tradition of introducing exceptional young European artists to UK audiences – this recital promises to be yet another milestone about which you’ll want to say, “I was there.”
