Madeleine Middleton

Madeleine began working for Leeds Lieder in 2022 initially as an interim General Manager and subsequently as Concerts and Festival Manager.

Madeleine Middleton studied at the University of Birmingham for a degree in Music as a first-study trumpeter, and for a Masters degree in Drama and Theatre Studies which culminated in a thesis exploring directorial approaches to Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.

Madeleine began working for Leeds Lieder in 2022 initially as an interim General Manager and subsequently as Concerts and Festival Manager. Before this, she worked for many years as a producer and Artistic and Project Consultant for the music and theatre promoter, Raymond Gubbay, producing and programming classical concerts, ballet and opera in venues across the UK. This included managing the annual staged operas at the Royal Albert Hall and concerts and tours with major UK orchestras and international artists such as Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Joseph Calleja and Bryn Terfel.

In her spare time, Madeleine has enjoyed directing amateur and community opera productions and currently conducts a children’s choir at her local church. Her other interests include reading, cooking, art and photography.
