Leeds Song Welcomes Four New Trustees
Leeds Song is proud to announce the appointment of four new trustees to its Board: Jasdeep Singh Degun, Cynthia Wainwright, Dr Stewart Campbell, and Rachael Green. Each brings substantial expertise and insight that will support and strengthen the organisation’s strategic development in the years ahead.

Jasdeep Singh Degun
Jasdeep Singh is a Leeds-born sitar player and composer whose work spans performance, composition, and cross‑cultural artistic collaboration. Recognised for his ability to challenge genre boundaries and introduce audiences to new musical perspectives, he has held significant artistic positions including Artist in Residence at Opera North and Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music. In 2023, he became the first sitar player to receive the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Best Instrumentalist Award, marking a major milestone in British classical music.
Cynthia Wainwright
Cynthia Wainwright joins the Board with extensive experience in fundraising, development, and arts leadership. She has worked with several major cultural organisations, including Tate and the British Library, and previously served as Head of Development at The Hepworth Wakefield. Her work has focused on strategic development, relationship building, and expanding public engagement with the arts. Cynthia brings a deep understanding of cultural fundraising and organisational growth.
Dr Stewart Campbell
Dr Stewart Campbell is a lecturer in Music Management and a specialist in the field of song. Holding a PhD in this discipline, he brings academic depth, sector knowledge, and a long‑standing commitment to vocal music. Stewart also brings valuable operational and leadership experience, having previously served as General Manager of the Ryedale Festival.
Rachael Green
Rachael Green joins Leeds Song as Treasurer. She currently works at Asda House and has broad experience in finance across a range of sectors. Her earlier career includes roles with Sky and Channel 4, providing her with a substantial background in financial management, media, and creative industries. Rachael brings strong analytical insight and governance expertise to the Board.
